Bagpuss Renovation

Bagpuss, complete with engine, trailer and some boxes of parts, was purchased on eBay in late July 2018. We collected her at the start of August. Other than the traffic this went fairly smoothly.

We launched her at Pike Lock slipway on the same day.

• Attached outboard motor to boat
• Started wiring up outboard motor

• Door handle added to front cabin doors on the outside.
• Sanded & varnished exterior wood.
• Attached outboard controls more securely.

• Finished wiring outboard & started for first time

• Reattached loose connections in electrical box
• Tested 12v sockets, cabin and navigation lights – all powered
• Sanded & varnished the mast and rear bed frame
• Wired in water pump to tap micro-switch and power

• Engine test run from Pike Lock to Newtown and back

• Sand & varnish cockpit wood
• Sand & paint steps and electrical box cover

• More varnish coats on rear cabin bed base & electrical box cover
• New headlamp fitted

• Tested feasibility of electric propulsion by mounting an old 48lb thrust 12v outboard motor. Reached 3.3mph.
